I have painted all my life, I love the smell, texture and vitality of oil paint but greatly enjoy all forms of art. I studied at Manchester Regional College of Art and worked for several years as an artist in advertising before drifting, strangely, into engineering design.
I have lived and exhibited my work in Toronto, Philadelphia, Manchester and in my home town, Altrincham, Cheshire.
I have travelled extensively and most of my Townscapes and Landscapes are studio Oil paintings made from sketches and photos of places that have inspired me.
My portraits are often commissioned but as an avid movie goer and keen sports fan, often of people I simply admire.
In landscapes and townscapes, I attempt to capture the unique essence of the place and with portraits a little of the subject's hidden character (that little something the camera often finds hard to locate)
I am an active member of the Oil Painting section of the Altrincham Society of Artists and exhibit with the Society twice a year. (See "News" section for details.)
